Train Driver Team Leader
Position Overview
As a Train Driver Team Leader, you will assume a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient movement of trains on the Etihad Rail network. Your responsibilities encompass not only the expert operation of locomotives but also the leadership and supervision, training and competency of a team of Train Drivers. By doing conducting inspections and upholding the highest standards of maintenance for traction systems.
You will play a key role in maintaining safety, optimizing performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the Train Operations department.
Roles and Responsibility
• Lead, supervise a team of Train Drivers, ensuring their punctuality, reliability, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Take charge of driving locomotives and overseeing the mechanical operation of trains, including train speed and handling.
• Promote a culture of safety by maintaining a high profile in advocating safe working conditions and practices.
• Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors operating on the Etihad Rail infrastructure.
• Oversee the safe, reliable, and punctual movement of trains, both in normal, degraded and emergency circumstances.
• Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive training programs for train drivers and train driver team leaders.
• Conduct engaging and informative training sessions, workshops, and hands-on exercises to enhance the knowledge and skills of train operations and maintenance teams
• Regularly assess and evaluate the proficiency of personnel, providing constructive feedback and facilitating continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of training sessions, assessments, and inspection results.
• Generate comprehensive reports outlining inspection findings, recommended corrective actions, and compliance status.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Train Operations and as well with the Training team to provide regular updates on inspection outcomes and training progress respectively.
• Identify and address equipment faults and failures promptly, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Provide real-time updates and information on performance and safety-related matters to the Train Operations Supervisor.
• Liaise with customer facility staff as necessary to support safe and reliable railway operations.
• Perform On-Call response duties as required by Etihad Rail terms and conditions, ensuring swift and effective response during emergencies.
• Carry out shunting and train preparation duties as required to deliver the maintenance and service plan, contributing to the overall operational efficiency.
• Adapt to a flexible shift pattern as directed by the business to meet operational requirements effectively.
• Performance role of an Incidence Officer during the degrades and emergencies.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Academic Qualifications:
• Possess a valid Train Driver's license and a proven track record of successful train driving.
• Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a railway or transportation environment.
• Thorough knowledge of railway safety regulations, operating procedures, and best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions, especially in emergency situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive customer focus and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
• Extensive experience in passenger train operations.
• Preferred experience in training
Professional Qualifications:
• In-depth knowledge of passenger train systems and associated equipment.
• Exceptional training, presentation, and communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
• Keen attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices governing railway operations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering a safety-conscious culture.
• Organizational and time management skills to prioritize training activities effectively.
Perform Rail Incident Officer/Train Operations Liaison Officer duties as necessary
Experience:
• 8+ years of experience
• Current competence in Rail Incident Officer duties
• Current competency in train driving
• Experience in risk assessment and safe systems of work
• Experience in incident investigations
Pre-requisite conditions:
• Good Medical Fitness.
• Able to successfully complete Psychometric Evaluation.
Other Skills:
• English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skill.
• Good planning skills.
• Analytical skills for problem solving.
• Ability to writing comprehensive reports.
• Knowledge of applicable discipline-based railway standards.
• Preferred of European Train Control System (ETCS).
• IT literate.

• Full UAE driving license or ability to achieve competence,
