Position Overview and Objectives

 

The Maintenance Contracts Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing maintenance contracts related to Rolling Stock within the passenger train services. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of maintenance agreements, compliance with contract terms, and the optimization of maintenance services to enhance Rolling Stock performance and reliability. The Maintenance Contracts Manager reports to the Head of Rolling Stock and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality maintenance services while maintaining cost-effectiveness and adherence to safety standards.

 

Roles and Responsibility

 

•            Manage all aspects of maintenance contracts related to Rolling Stock, including service agreements, and compliance with contractual obligations.

•            Ensure contracts are effectively executed, monitored, and renewed or renegotiated as needed.

•            Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to draft, review, and finalize maintenance contracts.

•            Monitor and evaluate the performance of maintenance contractors, ensuring they meet or exceed contractual service levels and quality standards.

•            Implement performance measurement mechanisms, conduct regular reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

•            Develop and manage budgets related to maintenance contracts in line with your line manager.

•            Identify cost-saving opportunities and cost control measures while maintaining service quality.

•            Ensure that maintenance contractors adhere to safety procedures, regulations, and industry standards.

•            Monitor compliance with environmental and safety regulations and implement corrective actions when necessary.

•            Identify potential risks associated with maintenance contracts and develop mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions.

•            Analyze contract terms to ensure they align with risk management objectives.

•            Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Rolling Stock maintenance teams, procurement, and legal, to align maintenance contract objectives with organizational goals.

•            Communicate contract-related information effectively to stakeholders.

•            Prepare and deliver regular reports on maintenance contract performance, financial status, and compliance to line manager and relevant stakeholders.

•            Address any deviations from contract terms promptly.

•            Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies in maintenance contract management.

•            Perform the duty as instructed by the line manager.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

 

Academic Qualifications: 

•            Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant specialism (legal, commercial), railway operational and maintenance experience would be an advantage.

•            Proven experience in contract management, preferably in the railway or transportation industry.

 

Professional Qualifications:

•            10 years or more of relevant, demonstrable industry experience, including managing contracts. Experience in railway operations and maintenance

•            Commercial minded and familiar with legal terms

•            Knowledge and understanding of maintenance and service level agreements

•            Familiar with railway and engineering terminology

•            Working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-national team

•            Proven ability to work under pressure
