Depot Planning Engineer
Position Overview
As a Depot Planning Engineer within our Passenger Train Operations department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of our train depot facilities. Reporting directly to the Depot Manager, you will be responsible for planning and overseeing depot operations, maintenance, and resource management to ensure the seamless operation of our passenger train fleet.
Roles and Responsibility
• Develop plan and schedules for depot activities, including train inspections, maintenance, cleaning, and fueling, to optimize resource utilization.
• Manage depot resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure they are efficiently deployed to meet operational needs.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to plan and schedule routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing of passenger trains, ensuring minimal disruption to the schedule.
• Ensure that all depot activities comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
• Oversee the inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for depot operations, maintaining appropriate stock levels and ordering as needed.
• Implement quality control processes to ensure that all maintenance and servicing activities meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
• Maintain accurate records of depot activities, including maintenance logs, equipment inventories, and safety reports.
• Generate regular reports for management on depot performance and resource utilization.
• Coordinate and lead depot response efforts during emergencies or operational disruptions.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, in Mechanical, or a related field is preferred.
Relevant certifications or training in depot management and railway operations are a plus.
Experience:
8+ years of experience
Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-solving abilities with the capability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
Proficiency in using depot management software and tools.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing operational demands.
